The cost of removing a lump from a cat in Brisbane depends on a few things: its size, where it is on the body, whether testing is recommended, and how complex the surgery turns out to be. Broadly, uncomplicated cat lump removals in Brisbane run from around $1,000 up to $2,000 or more.

This pricing is for uncomplicated, superficial lumps. Lumps that appear suspicious on examination — anything consistent with a mast cell tumour, fast-growing, ulcerated, firmly fixed to underlying tissue, or in a location such as the face, ear or tail base that needs more delicate surgery — fall outside our flat-rate pricing and are quoted individually once your vet has assessed your cat. Cats in particular can develop tumour types that behave very differently from a simple lipoma, so we'd rather assess properly and quote accurately than risk under-treating something that needs more care.

Pre-anaesthetic blood testing and histopathology (laboratory testing of the lump) are not included in this price, as we recommend these on a case-by-case basis — particularly important for senior cats or those with pre-existing conditions.

 

What Influences the Cost?

Size. Smaller lumps generally mean quicker, simpler surgery — but it isn't the whole story.

Location. Lumps on the ears, face, paws or tail base need more careful, delicate surgery than lumps on the body, and that's reflected in surgical time.

​

How the lump behaves. A soft, mobile, slow-growing lump is a very different surgical prospect to one that's firm, fixed, or changing quickly — this matters more than size alone in most cases.

​

Multiple lumps. If your cat has more than one lump, having them removed together under the same anaesthetic is usually far more economical than separate procedures.

Does Every Lump Need To Come Off?

Not always. Some lumps are genuinely fine to monitor. Others are worth investigating with a Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) before deciding whether surgery makes sense. We'll always talk through the options with you once we've actually examined your cat, rather than assuming surgery is the default answer.
