Affordable Dog and Cat Vaccinations
at South Brisbane Vet:
Why Regular Vaccination Matters
If you're a pet owner in South Brisbane, West End, Highgate Hill, Paddington, or the surrounding suburbs, keeping your dog or cat up to date with vaccinations is one of the most important things you can do for their long-term health — and your peace of mind.
At South Brisbane Vet, we offer straightforward, affordable vaccination appointments with transparent pricing. No surprises at the front desk.
What Vaccinations Do We Offer?
Dog Vaccinations — C2/KC, C3 and C5
We vaccinate dogs against the core and lifestyle diseases recommended by the Australian Veterinary Association. Here's what each vaccination covers:
-
C3 (core vaccine): Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis — the essential three that every dog in Australia should have, regardless of lifestyle
-
C2/KC: Bordetella bronchiseptica and Parainfluenza — sometimes used as a booster component
-
C5: Everything in C3 plus C2/KC— required if your dog goes to boarding kennels, doggy daycare, dog parks, or anywhere they mix with other dogs
We use the Nobivac triannual vaccine, which means many adult dogs only need a C3 booster every three years once their primary course is complete. We'll advise you on the right schedule based on your dog's history.
Cat Vaccinations — F3
For cats, we vaccinate against three diseases in a single injection:
-
Feline herpesvirus (cat flu)
-
Feline calicivirus (cat flu)
-
Feline panleukopaenia (feline enteritis)
This is known as the F3 vaccine and is the recommended core vaccine for all cats in Australia. Whether your cat is indoor-only or goes outside, the F3 protects against diseases that can spread even through indirect contact.

How Often Does My Pet Need Vaccinating?
Dogs
Puppies start their vaccination course at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters at 10-12, 14-6 weeks and 6 months. After that, the schedule depends on which vaccine components were used. With Nobivac triannual, many adult dogs can move to a three-year booster cycle for core components, with annual kennel cough boosters if required (C5).
-
Puppies: 6-8 weeks old, 10-12 weeks old, 14-16 weeks old, 6 months old
-
Adult dogs (C3 core): Every 3 years with Nobivac Flex DHP
-
Adult dogs (C2/KC): Every year with Nobivac Bp/Pi
-
Adult dogs requiring C5: Annual Bordetella/Parainfluenza + triannual core
Cats
Kittens start at 6-8 weeks, with boosters at 10-12, 14-16 weeks and 6 months old. Adult cats then require boosters every year. We'll let you know at each visit what's due next and why.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a consultation every time my pet is vaccinated?
Yes — and for good reason. The consultation isn't a formality. A vet needs to examine your pet and confirm they're healthy enough to receive the vaccine. Vaccinating a sick animal can be harmful. The health check is also the most valuable part of the visit for catching problems early.
My dog goes to a kennel — which vaccine does he need?
Most kennels in Brisbane require a current C5 vaccination, which includes protection against kennel cough (Bordetella and Parainfluenza). Some may accept a C3 with a separate Bordetella vaccine. We can advise and provide documentation for your specific kennel.
My cat never goes outside — does she still need to be vaccinated?
Yes. Feline herpesvirus and calicivirus can be carried in on clothing, shoes, or by other cats entering the home. Feline panleukopaenia is a serious and potentially fatal disease. We recommend the F3 for all cats, including strictly indoor cats.
Can I combine vaccination with other services like a dental check?
Absolutely. Many owners use the annual or triannual vaccination visit as a prompt for a full health review, including a dental assessment. We're happy to discuss any concerns during the same appointment. Our affordable cat and dog dental pricing starts from $490.
What is the Nobivac triannual vaccine?
Nobivac is a range of vaccines manufactured by MSD Animal Health. The triannual formulation is designed to provide three years of core protection for dogs, reducing the frequency of boosters required. It's an AVA-registered product widely used in Australian veterinary practice.
Are veterinary services cheaper at South Brisbane Vet?
Veterinary fees vary depending on the procedure, complexity and individual pet. Many Brisbane pet owners tell us they find our pricing highly competitive compared with other inner-city Brisbane veterinary clinics. If you have received a treatment estimate elsewhere, contact our team and we can discuss your options.
