What Vaccinations Do We Offer?

 

Dog Vaccinations — C2/KC, C3 and C5

 

We vaccinate dogs against the core and lifestyle diseases recommended by the Australian Veterinary Association. Here's what each vaccination covers:

• C3 (core vaccine): Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis — the essential three that every dog in Australia should have, regardless of lifestyle

• C2/KC: Bordetella bronchiseptica and Parainfluenza — sometimes used as a booster component

• C5: Everything in C3 plus C2/KC— required if your dog goes to boarding kennels, doggy daycare, dog parks, or anywhere they mix with other dogs

 

We use the Nobivac triannual vaccine, which means many adult dogs only need a C3 booster every three years once their primary course is complete. We'll advise you on the right schedule based on your dog's history.

Cat Vaccinations — F3

For cats, we vaccinate against three diseases in a single injection:

• Feline herpesvirus (cat flu)

• Feline calicivirus (cat flu)

• Feline panleukopaenia (feline enteritis)

 

This is known as the F3 vaccine and is the recommended core vaccine for all cats in Australia. Whether your cat is indoor-only or goes outside, the F3 protects against diseases that can spread even through indirect contact.

Every vaccination appointment at South Brisbane Vet includes a full nose-to-tail health check. This is a chance for our vet to catch anything you might not have noticed — a heart murmur, dental disease, weight changes, or early arthritis. It's preventive care, not just a jab.

How Often Does My Pet Need Vaccinating?

 

Dogs

​

Puppies start their vaccination course at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters at 10-12, 14-6 weeks and 6 months. After that, the schedule depends on which vaccine components were used. With Nobivac triannual, many adult dogs can move to a three-year booster cycle for core components, with annual kennel cough boosters if required (C5).

• Puppies: 6-8 weeks old, 10-12 weeks old, 14-16 weeks old, 6 months old

• Adult dogs (C3 core): Every 3 years with Nobivac Flex DHP

• Adult dogs (C2/KC): Every year with Nobivac Bp/Pi

• Adult dogs requiring C5: Annual Bordetella/Parainfluenza + triannual core

 

Cats

 

Kittens start at 6-8 weeks, with boosters at 10-12, 14-16 weeks and 6 months old. Adult cats then require boosters every  year. We'll let you know at each visit what's due next and why.
